It is that time of year......The wedding season is upon us.  Last year I had a huge demand for bridal shops and I could not keep up with the demand.  So I took my time and designed several ONE of a kind bridal shops.  All starting at just $10.  And If you make your purchase before February 14th, 2012.  I will add a free business card design.

Check out some of my designs here.

Pinterest and Watermarking your photos

I was recently web surfing and found a blog that was using my images from my blog....as crafts they had made....I was shocked.  Someone to my blog toutrial and used my toutrial and images step by step giving me NO credit for my work...Now in the step by step instructions they edited all of my miss spelled words and bad grammar but it is still wrong.  I am going to have to go back and watermark my blog images  (which is a HUGE feat since I have over 100 posts)....I am lucky she doesn't have the blog following that I do...I take all of my photos on my crappy fire place, my white counter tops, or crappy dining table so my images are pretty distinguishable.  I am kinda disturbed someone was so lazy they couldn't take their own photos..but I guess they really didn't do the craft.  Someone who doesn't craft really should right a craft blog....Okay venting over I feel better....

Here it is with my watermark...I placed it where you can still see my finished product...My watermarked can't be cropped out...I didn't do anything fancy...I just took my font and typed my blog address on my image.  Now I didn't come up with the idea of Mason Jar wine glasses.  BUT I did show on my blog step by step how to make your own.  It sucks to have it copied without my permission or any credit for my work...You can find that blog post here ...http://vampirecraftin.blogspot.com/2011/07/bon-temps-wine-glasses.html

I searched the word etsy on pinterest...and found hundreds of photos.  NONE of the photos have watermarks.  Don't do that...Watermark your work. Adding a visible watermark is a common way of indentifying images and protecting them from unauthorized use online.  It also puts your brand out there.  Your products are part of your brand....Your art is uniquely yours...Watermark it...

The reason I am mentioning Pinterst in the blog is because pintrest uses images as bookmarks instead of links...There is a link available but it is nice to just add a watermark..

Alot of the use of your images without mention of you or your name..blog or etsy shop... I think is unintentional.  Someone sees something they like, they right click and save your image on their computer and forget later where they got it.  You must put some identifying marks on your image.  Your blog name or your logo image.   Just as a quick reference to where they can find that product that has captured their interest.  Make it easy for folks to share your awesome work...Word of mouth is the best way to show your brand.

Also keep this in mind.  Photos that ROCK...sell products.  If you don't have great photos you will not sell  your products.  If you have great photos....someone will take them....and use them to sell their products.  I don't want to name names....but...It happens.  I had a customer have this happen to them...Most of the time you will never know it has happened to you. You can choose to watermark your images in differently depending on the image.

Some argue that if you watermark your images you will not get chosen for treasury lists or blogs....but that is not true.  I check my etsy account daily and I have seen watermarked images on the front page of esty several times...As long as your image is pretty and clean and clear it will be chosen.

It is not necessarily to watermark your work...but It can't hurt your brand...
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK...

Here are some great tutorials on how to add watermarks to your images...
http://www.gimp.org You would layer your watermark on top of the photo you have taken.

I hope I have helped...

Tag UR it

I just had the pleasure of designing a shop for Amy with Tag UR it.  She purchased a One of a kind shop already listed in my shop but we had to add some custom touches to make it special.  As you can see I added a scallop oval tag to match her business name....Sometimes the logo will not fit on a narrow skinny banner but there are lots of ways around it depending on your DESIGNER and your ability to thing out of the box.  Everything doesn't always be matchy...to perfectly brand your business.

Check out some of her shop items...Just click on the link below to go directly to the listing.

Amy also has another shop at http://www.etsy.com/shop/GreenVibesonetsy

LuLue's new shop design

I love to design one of a kind logos.  Shannon from LuLue had exactly what she wanted and I had fun creating it!

Thanks for working with me Shannon!

Rhabdomyolysis

"Personal Post"
Rhabdomyolysis big long name.....Causes BIG problems.  I had never heard of Rhabdomyolysis, but I promise I will never forget it.  What is it?

Rhabdomyolysis is the breakdown of muscle fibers that leads to the release of muscle fiber contents (myoglobin) into the bloodstream. Myoglobin is harmful to the kidney and often causes kidney damage.  My son was effected by this disease after an extraneous work out that involved over 100 push ups.  He tore a muscle in his arm, which days later became inflamed..  The next day he woke up with sore arms.  I just thought well he worked out more than normal, he will feel better tomorrow...We the next day he could barely move his arms.  I scheduled an appointment the next day...and that morning one of his arms was swollen.  When we saw the Dr he sent us to the emergency room.  We were informed that Zachary had Rhabdomyolsis and need to be put on an IV and admitted to the hospital.  His kidneys could not process the myoglobin released by his inflamed muscles and he was in SERIOUS danger of kidney failure.  I was in shock.  Besides his arm being swollen he was completely fine....No fever, no nausea, just some muscle pain and some discomfort nothing I thought was going to be serious.  When our lab test results came back we were told that his myoglobin were so high the computer used to count levels couldn't count....That was Friday, January 20th.....Our numbers were off the charts until yesterday January 23rd.  But we still can't leave the hosptial until our numbers have returned to normal.  How crazy is that.

So here is my random 2 cents worth.......
1.  If you have a child in PE or gym or any other athethic sport make sure they WORK UP TO, or BUILD up to a good work out.   Coaches should never use extra extra physical work outs as punishment....It is a huge cause of Rhabdomyosis.   You make sure you educate your child on what is toooo much, and you let them know if they are tired or know they reached their limit they need to stop.  It is obvious that teachers and coaches can't make that judgement for you.  You back your child up on any punshment that may come..

2.  Listen when they say they are sore from a work out and take them to the DR if you notice they have any kind of stiffness or loss in range of motion.  It doesn't hurt or cost to preform a unrine test before you leave the DR to make sure that the kidneys are okay.  Even a minor emergency clinic can help.  I don't know what I would do if my Dr. Had miss diagnoseing this.  (Actually I do....I would be wrighting a blog about the senseless loss of my son, or how we are praying for a kidney transplant while on a dialysis machine)  Most of the time this diagnosis is missed and a child will never wake up, or wake up without kidney function.  CRAZY...

3.  I am a huge believer in physical fitness and activity.  I have a "hyper" child with Autism, and I have always kept him active in sports.  He is always involved in one sport or another.  He really never gets to just sit around all summer.  But everything in Moderation.  As active as my son we are not training for the Olympics.  There is no reason to push your body far beyond its limits when training.  Even if he were on a state championship team the best athletes have built up their strength OVERTIME....Not all in one day.

I wish I had been at school with him that day.....to tell that coach....UM no he will not be doing those push ups....20-25 is enough for one day...I wish I would have told him...You can stop when you have reached your limit no matter what your coach says.

I just hope I have raised awareness of this disease to you...and I don't want to scare anyone...but I can't believe how common it is and how I have never heard of it....

We hope to leave the hospital soon until then I can I say I feel much better venting.
Here is a news story your might find interesting.

On a lighter note.  Some volunteers made this small pillow for my son.  It is perfect for a teen.  If you ever are looking for a great project to GIVE BACK check your local hospital and see if you could do something like this....It really made his day.

Teal Shingle

I LOVE REFERRALS.  I designed a funky shop set for another customer and I was asked by Shannon to do the same for her.  I was so lucky at how patient she was....I designed this shop during Christmas, and before my Disney Vacation. I had a bit of trouble getting started....I wasn't sure where to with the design but I love how it came out.  I would also like to say this was a BARTER or a trade for products.  I made Shannon a complete branding package with a one of a kind etsy shop set, business cards, logos and more  I love this design...It a custom design...made just for Shannon at Teal Shingle, and it will not be produced ever again...

Here is what her profile says...
I have a true love for fabric and things that are homemade. There is nothing like finding a new treasure that reflects something you love. I love being creative - stepping outside of the box and taking risks to create what I love!
I love taking new ideas and making them a reality - and watching the faces of people fall in love with them too!!!!

I have my shop set up so that you can choose the design you would like and then choose exactly what item you would like it embroidered onto! This way you can have exactly what your heart desires!!!! Some of the items listed include the design of your choice and personalization...

Here are a few of my favorite items in her shop...Check out her shop for AWESOME products.

Happy Tails Pet Bakery

Stephanie from Happy Tails Bakery sent me an etsy covo about a shop set I had listed.  She told me her shop was committed to making fresh, health all natural dog treats.  I loved the shop set she choose but I had a vision of a completely different design.  Something that matches her products.

I was so happy because she loved it!  This is one of my very favorite designs.  It was a pleasure to work with Stephanie..... Her profile states:
I am a dog lover and I enjoy baking, so this seemed like a natural process. I am committed to making fresh, healthy, all natural treats for your dog as their nutrition is just as important as yours! I am able to accommodate special diets on most treats, just convo me and ask if you have any questions about any ingredients used.

You will find a selection of healthy treats that are still fun and yummy (you could even sneak a taste yourself, I wouldn't tell)! All treats have been meticulously taste-tested and approved by my own canine helper, Lucy! I know your dog will LOVE it and you will love seeing those happy tails!

JuJu Eyeball

It is a New Year.  It is hard to imagine it is 2012.  Wow.
My resolution is to set a good example and update my blog.  I can't very well set a good business example and tell you to do things that I don't do myself.

One of my first Cutomers of the year was JuJu Eyeball.  Her banner looked like this, and it was clearly noticeable that she had a unique and eclectic style...

She told me she really loved the colors...and I do as well.  She also asked that I use an eyeball as her logo image.  This request was right up my alley....

Here is the banner I created...

and here avatar

As you can see this is a One of a kind custom design that included a complete etsy shop set, and High resolution logo, with a facebook banner, and all of the font and color code information.

You can find her etsy shop HERE  JuJu Eyeball
Karyn & Chelsea... the wonderful Etsy Artisans who own 2 etsy shops and they say
"We're at our best when we're at our weirdest!"
Our shop name, JuJuEyeball, like BuyMeLove, is a reference to the Beatles. After all, JJE is the twisted sister store to BML. Also like BuyMeLove, the name has a double meaning: JuJu is the nickname of our beloved rescue Yorkie, Jewel!

Check out some of their creations...
